Why this petition matters

Freddy Fender did an interview with Associated Press in 2004 discussing what it would mean to be considered for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, “Hopefully, I’ll be the first Mexican-American going into Hillbilly Heaven…” In the 19 years since, no Mexican-American or Latino(x) has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Despite 60 years recording and performing, Freddy Fender has been passed time and again. With this petition we ask that the voters for the Country Music Hall of Fame make Freddy's dream come true, and induct him into the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME; acknowledging his impact on the country music industry that benefited from his sound and style.

His accolades included but are not limited to the following:
- 3x Grammy Award Winner
- 24 Songs Charted on Billboard Hot Country Songs 4 of which reached #1
- Academy of Country Music (1975) — "Most Promising Male Vocalist"
- Country Music Association (1975) — "Single of the Year"
- Received a STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his impact in Music (Recording Category) 02-04-1999.
- Louisiana Hall Of Fame 2001
- Texas Historical Marker – for contributions to Tejano, rock, and country music (2023)
From 1974 to 2005, Fender released a total of 20 albums with a total of 24 songs charting successfully in both Country and Pop, many featuring lyrics in English and Spanish. With accolades in music, film and tv; representing Mexican-Americans in Country music it is time to give him the honor he deserves.... a spot in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
