Induct Brandy into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Induct Brandy into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
The Issue

Since her introduction into the entertainment business in 1993, Brandy Rayana Norwood has become a pop culture phenomenon and pop icon since age 14.
Nearly 29 years since the release her self titled debut album in 1994, she has sold over 40 millions albums and singles worldwide. All seven of her full length studio albums (Brandy, Never Say Never, Full Moon, Afrodisiac, Human, Two Eleven, B7) have become Billboard top ten and top twenty hits on the Billboard 200 charts. She has two No. 1 singles (including her 13-consecutive week No. 1 single “The Boy Is Mine” with fellow soul diva Monica and her first solo No. 1 hit “Have You Ever?”,) seven Billboard Hot 100 top ten hits, and ten top ten singles on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop charts (including 3 No.1 R&B/Hip Hop singles.)
She has made her mark as a budding and groundbreaking actress. In 1996, the United Paramount Network debut Brandy’s first starring role of “Moesha,” centered around an African American teenage girl living in south central Los Angeles, became a smash hit series for six seasons (1996-2001). In 1997, she landed the lead role in the television film adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein ”Cinderella” for ABC & Walt Disney. Leading a star studded cast including Whitney Houston (served as executive producer of tv film) as the Fairy Godmother, the television film was seen by nearly 60 million viewers. It became ABC network’s most highest rated special in the time period in 16 years. It was nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards nominations—winning one Emmy for Outstanding Art Direction for a Variety or Music Program.
Her third album “Full Moon” gave her the nickname “The Vocal Bible” for her influential vocal approach and improvisation along with her multilayered vocal production and arrangements. 21 years since its release in March of 2002, it has become the standard blueprint for singers, vocalists, musicians, and record producers.
She has become a musical icon and entertainment pioneer in both the recording industry and acting fields inspiring artists and entertainers such as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Kierra Sheard, Keke Palmer, Ariana Grande, H.E.R.,Tori Kelly, Coco Jones, Kehlani, Rihanna, Chris Brown,Tank, Teyana Taylor, Jazmine Sullivan, Keyshia Cole, John Frusciante of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Normani, Jhene Aiko, India.Arie, Tiwa Savage and many more.

She has won a Grammy Award, American Music Award, 8 Billboard Music Awards, MTV Movie Award, 3 NAACP Image Awards, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, 3 Soul Train Music Awards, 5 Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, and a Stellar Gospel Award.
September 27, 2024 will mark the 30th anniversary of “Brandy” and fans and fellow artists alike would like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee to bestow the honor of induction of this entertainment pioneer for her contributions to rhythm and blues, soul, pop, and hip hop music and culture.
