Gregory Michael Johnston of Evansville, Indiana, is reported to have sexually abused an 8 year old black boy over the period of 2 years, while the child was in his wife’s home daycare. Mr. Johnston allegedly held a gun to the child’s head to get him to perform sexual acts and threatened to harm the child if he told anyone. The Evansville Police arrested Mr. Johnston after finding evidence that confirmed the child’s story. 38-year-old Gregory Michael Johnston of Evansville was charged back in February with six counts of child molesting as a Level 1 felony, and one count of dissemination of matter harmful to minors, a level 6 felony.

After being arrested and charged Mr. Johnston was released on a $15,000 bond. Following Mr. Johnston’s release, prosecutor, Emily Hall, filed a motion to dismiss charges without the mother’s consent. Ms. Hall indicated that charges were dismissed due to the child’s mental health impacting his ability to stand trial. A spokesperson for Ms. Hall released the following statement: “The State of Indiana was forced to dismiss the case without prejudice in hopes of re-filing charges in the future. The ultimate goal of our office is to hold any criminal wrong-doer to justice, however the health and well-being of our victim is of the utmost important and must take priority.”
