Justice for Alissa Guernsey

Justice for Alissa Guernsey
The Issue
Alissa Beth Guernsey was only sixteen months old when she was brutally murdered. Her murderer only received 77 days in jail, and three years probation.
Alissa Guernsey was born on November 2, 2007 and died on March 28, 2009. In November 2008, Michael Guernsey (Alissa's father) died in a car accident. After his death, Kelli Sprunger (Alissa's mother) found it hard to care for Alissa and her two siblings. Christy Shaffer (Kelli's cousin) offered to take care of the kids until Kelli could get back on her feet. On December 9, 2008, Alissa and her two siblings were placed into the care of Christy and her husband Matt. The two already had four children, so they were now caring for seven children.
Alissa was a normal, happy, and healthy baby before being given to Christy. Shortly after Alissa was given to Christy, her hair started falling out and she had injuries all over her. She was taken to the doctor multiple times, but Christy had an excuse for all of Alissa's injuries.
Alissa's injuries that were reported before her death included bruises, a fractured elbow, cuts, scrapes, welts, and a black eye. Injuries that were reported after her death (during her autopsy) were bruises and a one inch wound on her lip. Alissa spent her last 110 days going through torturous beatings and abuse that none of her other siblings went through.
Christy's father was friends with multiple people, which ultimately effected her sentencing. He was friend with judge J. Scott VanDerbeck, prosecutor Jeff Wible, and doctor John Elgi. John was Alissa's doctor who basically watched her die.
All of these people still have jobs. After Alissa's death, Christy's children were never taken away. Christy remained free until she was sentenced to six years in prison for unrelated drug crimes. Christy received a longer sentence for methamphetamine possession, than murder.
It's been over ten years, and Alissa hasn't received the justice she deserves. Sign this petition to demand justice for baby Alissa!
