Veterans day should be a time for people to remember our fallen soldiers and how they fought for our country. This is not very easy to remember and celebrate with school in session.

  Students with family that served or are serving in the military may not be able to talk to a family member if they are overseas because they might not be available after 3:00. Students might even receive homework and might need to work on it until 3:30. This is much worse for people in accelerated/project arrow classes as they might work until 4/5 PM.

  Even if a family member in the military is not overseas, some parents only work night hours and the students wont have enough time to talk to them. Even if the student does not know a single person in the military, it is still an opportunity to learn about why we celebrate Veterans Day and what sacrifices lots of soldiers make to this day. Many other school districts do not have school in session during this holiday.
