Indian Car Buyers Deserve Customization – Not Forced Feature Bundles

Indian Car Buyers Deserve Customization – Not Forced Feature Bundles
The Issue
We're calling on the Government of India and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to mandate customizable feature options for passenger vehicles in India. Car buyers should have the right to choose and pay only for the features they want—not be forced into overpriced variants loaded with features they’ll never use.
Every year, millions of Indian car buyers are forced to pay for features they don’t want or need. Want basic safety but don’t need a sunroof? Too bad—you'll have to buy a top-end variant.
Manufacturers in India are pushing preloaded, bundled feature variants that limit buyer choice and inflate costs. This is unfair, wasteful, and encourages people to turn to unsafe aftermarket modifications just to personalize their cars.
We demand a change!!!
What We’re Asking For:
1. Customizable Feature Options: Let buyers pick and pay only for what they need—like choosing a phone or computer. No more forced bundles.
2. Transparent Pricing: Clearly display the cost of each feature and allow consumers to build their vehicle online or at the dealership.
3. Manufacturer-Supported Mods & Upgrades: Offer aesthetic and tech upgrades (like alloy wheels, body kits, or infotainment systems) directly from the company, reducing illegal modifications and safety risks.
4. Sustainable Manufacturing: Stop overproducing parts and features that often go unused. Give people what they actually want.
Countries like the US and Germany already offer modular vehicle options. Why is India—one of the world’s fastest-growing car markets—still stuck in the past?
We urge the Government of India, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and regulatory bodies to take swift action and protect consumer rights in the automobile industry.
Let’s make the Indian car market fair, flexible, and future-ready. Sign this petition and demand change now!
Who should sign this petition?
- Car buyers frustrated by high costs
- Auto enthusiasts who want to personalize legally
- Environmentalists supporting sustainable production
- Anyone who believes in consumer choice
