Increase Worker's Compensation Pay from 70% to 100% in New Jersey

Increase Worker's Compensation Pay from 70% to 100% in New Jersey
The Issue
My story is one all too common for hardworking individuals in New Jersey who have the misfortune of sustaining a work-related injury. I suffered an injury at work, and since, the struggle to provide and care for my family has been immense. The current Worker's Compensation pay only provides 70% of our income, an amount that is simply not enough to cover our everyday living expenses.
Every year, thousands of dedicated employees in New Jersey fall victim to workplace injuries. While Worker's Compensation aids some expenses, for most of us, it puts our ability to keep a roof over our head, afford healthcare, and even put food on the table, in jeopardy.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, around 2.8 million nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses were reported by private industry employers in a recent year. With the average New Jersey worker earning $1,176.00 weekly, the current 70% coverage equates to a significant pay cut when they can least afford it.
The time to address this crucial issue is now. I urge policymakers to increase Worker's Compensation benefits from 70% to 100% of an injured worker's income. Our livelihoods and dignity as workers depend on this much-needed change. Sign this petition and stand with the thousands of New Jersey workers who deserve full compensation in their most challenging times.
