Guildford is known for its beautiful old buildings and quaint stores, however unfortunately the increasing backlog of traffic has become a talking point. With the development of new estates, traffic is destined for a desperate standstill unless proper measures are taken. I – and many others – am especially aware of ignorance of the speed limits around the Guildford Bridge and surrounding roads in particular. Many drivers are under the mistaken belief that the posted speed limit is 40km/h, when in fact it's 60km/h. This mistake is causing unnecessary traffic congestion. 

To combat this, we need more speed limit signage and awareness boosts. When people understand the actual speed limits, the flow of traffic will improve for all residents.

Statistics show that a significant increase in clear, visible signage can lead to a 60% improvement in compliance with speed limits. We all know a second lane on the bridge and stretch of road would fix the solution, however in Western Australia, practical solutions are unlikely to be executed.
