The Issue

Many individuals in underserved communities experience trauma related to violence, abuse, poverty, homelessness, incarceration, grief, and unstable living conditions. Too often, people are judged for their behaviors without anyone taking the time to understand what they may have experienced or survived.

Trauma can affect every aspect of a person’s life, including mental health, relationships, education, employment, parenting, and overall well-being. Children, teens, and adults all deserve access to safe spaces and supportive programs that focus on healing rather than punishment or neglect.

Unfortunately, many communities still lack affordable mental health resources, trauma-informed support programs, and accessible services for families and youth. Without proper support, trauma can continue across generations and negatively impact entire communities.

We are calling for increased funding and expansion of trauma-informed programs that provide:

  • Mental health counseling and support services
  • Trauma-informed care in schools and community organizations
  • Youth mentorship and healing-centered programs
  • Support groups for families affected by violence, incarceration, and loss
  • Safe community spaces that promote emotional wellness and recovery

Healing-centered resources should be available to everyone regardless of income, background, or neighborhood. Investing in trauma-informed care can help create healthier families, safer communities, and stronger futures.

Please sign this petition to support more trauma-informed programs and resources in underserved communities.
