The Issue

My name is Anmol Verma, and like many aspiring engineers in India, I am preparing for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) with dreams of pursuing an M.Tech. However, coming from a family that is not financially strong, the fees for the M.Tech program present a significant burden. It is a challenge many students like me face, and it's why I urge the Ministry of Education to approve the proposal from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to increase the M.Tech stipend from ₹12,400 to ₹18,600.

Pursuing higher education is crucial for advancing both our personal development and the nation's technological landscape. However, the current stipend does not adequately support students who rely on it to cover essential expenses such as tuition fees, study materials, and daily subsistence needs. With the rising cost of living, this amount falls short, forcing students with limited financial resources to partake in part-time jobs, which can detrimentally affect their academic focus and success.

The AICTE has recognized this financial strain and has proposed an increase in the stipend. This proposal aims to bridge the gap and allow students to concentrate on their studies without the overwhelming anxiety of financial pressure. By increasing the stipend to ₹18,600, we can ensure that talented students from all financial backgrounds have the opportunity to nurture their potential without barriers.

Moreover, increasing the stipend is not just beneficial for individual students but also for the country's educational system as a whole. It will lead to a more skilled workforce, ready to tackle modern technological challenges and contribute positively to society and the national economy.

I urge the Ministry of Education to consider the AICTE's proposal seriously. By making this financial adjustment, we are investing in our future leaders who will drive innovation and development forward.

Please sign this petition to show your support for a fair and necessary increase in the M.Tech stipend, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of education and advancement for aspiring engineers across India.
