I am starting this petition with a heavy heart, Recently, two police officers were tragically killed in a vehicular collision with another car containing five individuals. This was not merely an accident but a senseless act, where the perpetrators' actions led to the devastation of lives dedicated to serving our community. While politicians and media outlets mourn the loss of seven, it’s vital to remember that two were valiant officers trying to preserve peace lost their lives ; attended by their colleagues from all emergency services that face abuse & attacks on a daily basis. 

I have  friends in the police force and a daughter who's a devoted paramedic, alongside a friend who's a firefighter. These brave individuals face daily challenges that are escalating due to increased crime and diminished support. They are overwhelmed and disheartened, battling not just against criminal acts but also against a system increasingly ill-equipped to protect them or hold offenders accountable.

The police force in the UK urgently needs bolstering. Crime rates have surged, with communities across the country experiencing heightened threats and violence. The current resources and manpower are insufficient, often leaving officers without the tools they need to safely and effectively manage these dangers.

According to the Office for National Statistics, there has been a steady rise in violent crime, including knife crimes and vehicle theft. These crimes not only put civilians at risk but also endanger the lives of those who serve to protect us. A report from the UK Home Office illustrates that police forces are struggling under the weight of these challenges, resulting in longer emergency response times and increased stress among officers.

We need our government to take decisive action. This includes increasing funding for the police force, ensuring they have access to modern equipment and technology to manage crime more effectively, and implementing stricter laws that deter such reckless behaviour. Our politicians must prioritise this issue, allocate necessary resources, and create policies that actively support our law enforcement agencies.
