Funerals and final expenses in today's economy can range anywhere from $7,000 to $12,000, making the current lump-sum death benefit of $255 barely a drop in the bucket. While the Social Security Administration provides this benefit with good intentions, it is evident that it no longer meets the practical needs of grieving families.
A Bill S.5178 was already introduced in the Senate on 09/25/2024 to increase it to $2900. It is going to be two years, please help move it to become effective.
