To reduce plastic pollution it's needed that everyone should be responsible for right disposal of plastic waste.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

We have been doing our part to educate people, increase awareness and conducting drives to pickup plastics to clean city, beaches etc. But that's working at a slower speed, if we compare to production of single use plastics by companies.

SOLUTION

Government of India should impose this law for companies to INCREASE price (REFUNDABLE) of non-essential commodities like soft drinks, potato chips etc. And direct big grocery stores to install disposal machines for single use plastics which refunds money in the form of vouchers which can be redeemed at stores.

EXAMPLE

The store selling pepsi for Rs 50 should sell bottle for additional Rs 10 (Refundable). Total price Rs 60. This extra Rs 10 will be refunded when the bottle is brought back to the machine that accepts these single use plastics. (Machine reads the bar code from used bottle and decide whether it is eligible for refund)

In this way, less privileged people can sweep the city to earn these single use plastics for better price. And people themselves can also store there leftovers and not throw just anywhere.
