We are residents of Charleston, WV, with a significant quotient of our life revolving around the city's bustling nightlife. It's our source of respite, fun, and often, heartfelt conversations. But lately, we've noticed a concerning trend - insufficient availability of Uber/Lyft or taxis at late hours. This inconvenience leaves us susceptible to dangerous situations like drunk driving and DUIs.

Given that large cities like LA and NY have ride-share services available round the clock, the decrease of availability of such a provision in our city seems unfair. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2018, approximately 10,511 people died in drunk driving accidents in the USA. We surely do not want our city to contribute to this horrifying statistic.

In light of such data, increasing cab services at night is vital not only for our convenience but also to ensure our safety. It's time our city's authorities collaborated with ride-sharing companies to optimize their services during night hours for our safety.
