We are advocating for the minimum wage increase to the living wage and know that it is a problem for New Zealand because many New Zealanders often times go without necessities from the cost of foods, petrol, housing, this is proven by recent statistics that recorded that a single persons estimated monthly cost of living in 2022 was, NZD$4,209 including rent in Auckland and for a family of four, the estimated monthly cost of living is NZD$7,686. Students are also being impacted by the increase in living costs as many of us drive and save for future opportunities such as travel, university and retirement which creates the impact of students taking up multiple jobs and working lots of hours to be able to save enough money per week.
