We are students of Santiago, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Like many others, I face financial challenges that make it difficult to pursue my educational goals and dreams. The lack of job opportunities for students like me is a significant hurdle we face every day. In the Philippines, youth unemployment rate was 14.4% in 2020 according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. This high percentage reflects a grim reality - our potential is being wasted due to lack of opportunities.

The government and private sector need to recognize this issue and take immediate action. We are calling for policies that promote job creation specifically targeted at students and young people entering the workforce. These could include internships, part-time jobs or summer jobs that not only provide income but also valuable work experience.

We are not asking for handouts; we simply want an opportunity to work hard towards our dreams while contributing positively to our society and economy.
