Increase inclusivity and diversity in the beauty industry starting with MAC cosmetics

The Issue

People of color are constantly struggling to find products that match their skin tones. Many brands only offer shades that cater to each extreme. However, our society is filled with people of all colors yet they often find themselves staring at the shelves looking for their perfect match. It wasn’t until Fenty Beauty was created that braids felt the need to expand their color shades. Fenty beauty came out with the foundation line of over 40 sheets. Now it is more popular for other cosmetic companies to have more inclusive lines. However, there is still a need for more. Popular companies such as Mac still only cater to a small audience leaving many without.
I am calling out Mac to do five things. The first being to develop a foundation line that caters to a wider range of skin tones, especially deeper ones. Secondly, increase the number of shade available in their existing foundation, lines, ensuring that every customer can find their skin tone. Thirdly. Conduct more research to ensure that there are foundation for all skin types, specifically oily and dry skin. Fourthly, Mac needs to feature models with wide range of skin tones that accurately reflects their consumer base in their advertisements. Lastly, Mac needs to provide training for their employees so that they will be able to help all customers find an accurate match when it comes to foundation.
