Increase Hourly Wages for Hardworking Technicians

The Issue

My husband is a technician at Tires Plus, making only $16 an hour despite working full-time and performing physically intensive labor. His income is further dwarfed when considering the fact that his location alone contributed $25k to the company's profits in a single day this past week. This system is deeply unfair and suggests a blatant disregard for the workers who ensure the essential services Tires Plus provides remain functional and efficient.

Technicians such as my husband are the backbone of the auto-service industry, yet they struggle to make ends meet while large corporations profit extensively from their labor. This issue is exemplified by the drastic wage gap between the company's owners and its technicians.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for automotive service technicians and mechanics was only $42,090 per year in 2019. However, Bridgestone (the parent company of Tires Plus) reported a net income of $2.67 billion for the same year. Clearly, the wealth generated by these hardworking individuals is not being distributed fairly.

It's not just about a fair wage, it's about the recognition of the tireless labor these technicians put into their work, often under strenuous and demanding conditions. The wage structure urgently needs an overhaul to reflect the true value of these employees' contributions.

It's time to hold Tires Plus and other companies accountable for their wage practices. Technicians deserve better pay reflecting the critical role they play in our society. It's time to show support for these hardworking individuals. Please sign this petition to demand fair wages for technicians.
