Increase Funding for Public Schools, Stop Favouring Private Institutions

The Issue

I am reaching out personally because the school that provides education to numerous future leaders is on the brink of closure. The April 1st referendum spells a possible death knell for our institution, as this could lead to a significant cut in our desperately needed funding.

Across the nation, public schools are often the only lifeline for families that can't afford private education. Yet, these schools are being starved of necessary funds. According to the National Centre for Education Statistics, fund allocations are increasingly skewed. Public schools received $13,186 per student in 2018, while private schools received fund allocations above this number.

Such disparities don't just threaten the existence of schools; they compromise our children's future. Every child, irrespective of their background, deserves equitable access to quality education. Schools that are devoid of adequate funding suffer from dilapidated infrastructure, out-of-date learning materials, and a lack of necessary educational programs.

We urge educational bodies and policymakers to redirect their focus towards public schools. Prioritize public education funding instead of continually increasing the gap between public and private schools. Our collective effort can ensure the continued operation of schools like ours and safeguard the education of future generations. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
