Increase Funding for Boston Homeless Shelters

Increase Funding for Boston Homeless Shelters
The Issue
I witness the struggles many homeless people have to go through on the streets striving to find some safety and shelter. I have empathy for their situation. People in homeless shelters still have to endure dangerous things that could be worse than living in the streets.
The shelters that provide some safety are often underfunded and lack the resources needed to offer a safe environment with essential daily supplies.
To make our shelter system safer and more supportive, it's important that we advocate for increased funding towards these shelters. Shelters would be able to upgrade their security system, ensuring residents can sleep without fear. Additionally, they would be able to provide better access to critical daily necessities such as food, clothing, hygiene products, and medical supplies.
The current funding from local and state governments is not enough to meet these needs. This is a call to action for the Boston City Counselors and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to prioritize more funding for homeless shelters.
