I am a resident deeply concerned about the recent change in waste collection scheduling. The purple lidded paper and cardboard bin, an essential element in our community's waste disposal, used to be emptied twice a month *When it was Mixed Recycling*. Now, it's emptied just once. Our bin fills up before the month's end, causing inconvenience and potential health and safety hazards. This issue is particularly acute for larger households and communities, for whom the bin fills up even faster. According to Waste Management World, a 20-30% increase in recycled materials has been observed due to increased home activity during the pandemic. Consequently, our bins fill up faster than before, making this issue even more pressing. We are aware of the financial and logistical limitations local councils face. However, reverting to the bi-monthly collection schedule or proposing an effective alternative solution would greatly benefit the community and environment alike.
