We represent a diverse collection of Uber drivers operating in and around Orlando and various parts of Florida. We are deeply concerned about the discrepancies in the compensation given to us by Uber. For example, a typical ride that charges a passenger $80, only compensates the driver with $35. This pay scale is justified using Massachusetts' regulations that require an Uber driver to receive $35, even though Florida doesn't have such regulations in place.

Shockingly, this means that less than half of the fare goes to the drivers, who are the backbone of the Uber service. This is unacceptable. We ask that this issue be brought to the attention of the representatives of Florida, including the Governor, so that necessary steps can be taken to enact regulations comparable to those in states like Massachusetts. Not only would this support the hardworking Uber drivers, but it would also set a standard for how gig worker businesses operate in Florida, promoting fair pay for all.
