Increase Bulk Trash Pickup Frequency in Wylie, TX

The Issue

We, the residents of Wylie, Texas, are calling on city officials to increase the frequency of bulk trash pickup in our community.

Currently, bulk trash pickup is only offered once per month. This schedule is insufficient for a growing city like ours. Residents are forced to store bulky items in their homes, garages, and yards for weeks at a time. This is not only inconvenient but also unsanitary and unsafe.

We pay significant taxes and expect essential services to meet the needs of our community. Asking residents to either keep bulk waste for up to a month or pay additional fees to haul it to a distant dump is unreasonable and unfair.

We urge Wylie city officials to:

Increase bulk trash pickup to at least twice per month, if not weekly.
Consider adding flexible pickup options for residents with urgent needs.

Let’s make Wylie cleaner, safer, and more accommodating for all residents.

Sign this petition to let Wylie city leaders know that once-a-month bulk trash pickup is not enough for our growing community.

Why This Matters

Public Health & Safety

Storing bulky waste for up to a month can attract pests, create fire hazards, and clutter neighborhoods.
Faster removal prevents accidents and keeps our community clean and safe.

Fair Use of Tax Dollars

Residents already pay significant property taxes. Basic services like bulk trash pickup should reflect the needs of a growing city.
Many cities with similar tax rates offer more frequent pickup services.

Quality of Life

Homes and neighborhoods look better when bulk items are promptly removed.
More frequent pickups prevent illegal dumping and make neighborhoods more appealing for families and visitors.

Cost & Convenience

Forcing residents to haul bulk items themselves means extra expenses, time, and effort—especially challenging for seniors, families with young children, or people without large vehicles.
A more frequent schedule saves time and reduces the burden on residents.

Growing Population Needs

Wylie has grown significantly in recent years, and services must scale accordingly.
Increased pickups keep pace with population growth and development.
