The rise of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, has led to an alarming increase in overdose deaths. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), synthetic opioid-involved death rates increased by over 10% from 2018 to 2019 in our state.
