Increase allied health spending for veterans

Increase allied health spending for veterans
The issue
Having served my country for 38 years, I've faced numerous challenges both during and after my service. I live with painful conditions including serious back, neck, and knee issues, and I suffer from Major Depressive Disorder. The support I receive from physiotherapy and exercise physiology is crucial not only for my physical health but also for my mental well-being.
However, like many of my fellow veterans, I struggle with the current health spending cap for Allied Health services, which is set at $5,000 per year. This amount barely covers the cost of one physiotherapy session per week, leaving no room for other essential allied healthcare services. With the cap set so low, we are forced to make impossible choices between different types of care that are all essential for a full and healthy recovery.
The government's current expenditure limits are inadequate to address the complexity and diversity of health issues faced by veterans. Research has shown that comprehensive healthcare, including a wide range of allied health services, is vital for effective rehabilitation and mental health support. According to recent studies, veterans require access to multidisciplinary approaches for holistic well-being.
By increasing the cap for Allied Health services, veterans can get the consistent and varied care they require. This change would acknowledge the sacrifices veterans have made and ensure their health needs are met more effectively. It is not just an investment in individual health but also a step towards honoring our commitment to those who have served.
I urge the government and relevant health authorities to reconsider their position and increase the allied health spending cap for veterans. We call upon policymakers to take action and ensure that all veterans can access the full spectrum of necessary health services.
Please support us in advocating for increased funding for Allied Health services for veterans. Sign this petition to help us secure the comprehensive care all veterans rightfully deserve.
