Increase 748 bus frequency from Marsden Park to Schofields and Tallawong
The issue
As a resident of Marsden Park, commuting to Schofields and Tallawong stations during peak hours has become increasingly challenging due to infrequent bus services. Like many others in our community, I rely heavily on public transportation for my daily commute, especially between 7-8 AM. However, the limited number of buses results in overcrowded conditions and delays, affecting our ability to reach our destinations on time. Most of the times buses are full by the time they reach stops near Coles, Elara. This results in a frustrated commute of over 40 minutes sometimes from Elara to Schofield due to the current frequency of buses between 7-8 AM.
Marsden Park is a thriving suburb, with a rapidly growing population largely dependent on public transport. The inadequate bus service during peak hours is impacting not just daily commuters but also students, elderly residents, and people with disabilities who depend on timely and reliable public transport options. The current transportation situation inconveniences many and discourages sustainable commuting choices.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Marsden Park's population has increased by over 50% in the last five years. Despite this significant growth, our public transportation infrastructure has not kept pace. The New South Wales Department of Transport should recognize this gap and allocate more resources to improve the frequency and capacity of bus services during peak hours.
I propose the introduction of additional 748 bus services between 7-8 AM from Marsden Park to Schofields and Tallawong stations.
