I cannot help but express my concern - personal and heartfelt - as a parent of children who cherish the euphoria they find in diving into the deep end of our current swimming pool in Caerphilly. It’s a joy that radiates their faces, infusing life and happiness into their childhood experiences. Now, the thought of having this invaluable happiness erased from their lives is beyond devastating.

Current plans for our new £33 million leisure centre, regrettably, leave out a deep end in the swimming pool. The absence of this treasured portion of the pool would not only strip our youngest generation of a beloved activity, but also affect swimming lessons and advanced training procedures, as a deep end is essential for divers and swimmers to build confidence and improve their skills.
