Imagine looking out of your window and seeing a brand new health centre right on your doorstep, yet finding out that you’re not allowed to use it. This is the reality for the residents of Rackheath with the newly opened Magna Medical Centre. Despite the centre being located in Rackheath, we have been told that our postcode is out of the catchment area. This decision has left us, the local residents, feeling frustrated and neglected.

Magna Medical Centre currently only allows residents from Hoveton and Wroxham to register, despite its location being much more accessible to us here in Rackheath. It's unfair that we, who have dealt with the construction inconveniences, such as noise and road closures, can't access this crucial facility. For those of us who do not drive, the situation is even more dire, as reaching alternative medical centres involves not only bus travel to the city but also requires changing buses to get to a doctor.

The lack of easily accessible healthcare affects our community's overall well-being. We need to be able to attend doctors’ appointments without the added stress of navigating complicated transport arrangements. This issue is not just about convenience but about fairness and health equity.

We urge the authorities and the management of Magna Medical Centre to reconsider their catchment area policies. By extending the catchment to include Rackheath, the centre would better serve its actual neighbours – us!
