Include Coco in the Rewilding Project

Include Coco in the Rewilding Project
The Issue
The Aspinall foundation are sending thirteen elephants from Howletts wild animal park in the U.K back to the wild in Kenya. They do fantastic work and this will be the first time that a herd of elephants has ever been rewilded any where in the world.
Coco is the only elephant that won’t be going and will be sent elsewhere to be used as part of a breeding programme. He moved to Howletts from Cabarceno animal park in Spain and has been there since 2015. He is described on the Howletts website as a 21 year old bull elephant that lives with HIS thirteen strong herd. There was an article in the Kent Online news which said all thirteen elephants from Howletts would be leaving for a new life in the wild. There was no mention of Coco at all. He should be given the same opportunity as the others and be sent back to the wild with the rest of his herd. They have been his family for the past seven years and he also deserves to return to his ancestral home and have a better life.
Benefits
He can breed in the wild, his calves would lead a more natural life than those born in captivity. Whilst having the advantage of living in a protected area.
It is a known fact that in the wild male elephants leave the herd when they are 15-25 years old. In the wild he would have more space to wander off on his own if he chooses to follow his natural instincts.
He could live for longer …research shows that captive elephants have a shorter life span.
