Improving exam conditions at McGill University: Investing in new chairs

Improving exam conditions at McGill University: Investing in new chairs
Le problème
Every university student knows that the period of final exams is stressful. At McGill University, a lot of these exams take place at the sports complex. With time, the complex has acquired the reputation of submitting students to harsh conditions, mainly because of the poor quality of the furniture (i.e. chairs and tables). In particular, the chairs are uncomfortable to the point of causing pain and numb the back and the lower back.
With this petition, I want to open the discussion between the students and McGill’s administration on this topic. I feel like it is in the student’s right to ask for better exam conditions, especially when the problem is known to everyone. Keeping the status quo would result in continuing the painful conditions that add to the stress inherent in the context.
After my first year at McGill, I was exposed to the exam conditions for the first time and decided to act. I went to talk with the VP of University Affairs of SSMU and she addressed the question with the President and the Deputy Provost and Student Life of McGill’s administration. As there seemed to be no action set in motion for the Fall 2023 final exams, she recommended that a petition should be started to show the relevance of this topic for the students. So, if you want to show the administration that this is an issue, please sign this petition now.
