Improvement of Facilities at Middlesex Stadium

Improvement of Facilities at Middlesex Stadium

The Issue

Who is affected?

There has always been high demand for football facilities in the area. Currently, Middlesex Stadium services West London clubs (Ruislip Rangers, Harefield FC, Wealdstone FC and Northwood Hills FC, as well as their very own Hillingdon Borough FC) and has had huge demand from the ever growing women's football (Ickenham FC), and has been approached by many youth academies.

What is at stake?

Middlesex Stadium has been the beating heart of the community for many years, bringing the local area residents together for the beautiful game. Servicing lower league football clubs, youth academies and the local community that just wants to have a kickabout. Without funding to improve the facilities, all of these clubs and locals will have to go further afield and incur more costs to do what they love. This could mean some clubs will be forced to close; lose a lot of members or people will not have they're weekly meet up with friends that is so dear to them. It's a beacon of light at a time where it's darkest.

Why is now the time to act?

Due to a lack of funding, the Stadium has not been able to bring the premises up to standard, encountering cancellations due to poor weather. The facilities have been developed without any significant funding relying on the hard work and donations from members, players, supporters and the local community. Due to this changing facilities are in a poor state of repair and don't cater to disabilities; and a poor drainage system is cancelling games. The project is needed to provide a proper home to Hillingdon Borough FC and allow for clubs from less funded athletes (i.e. women's league, youth academies) and recreational athletes to have a place to enjoy and play together. It will provide a key component to the cultural identity of the area, encouraging physical activity. Without funding the Stadium could close down and create a hole in the community.
