Improve Traffic Safety by Redlight at Lowes Exit, taking down Sonic Exit on Cherokee
The Issue
This is a personal and urgent call for change, following a tragic incident where a loved one suffered from a traumatic brain injury due to a collision at the Lowe's exit on Cherokee Avenue. This is not an isolated incident, as reckless driving and running of the currently located redlight are frequent occurrences in this area.
Considering the traffic studies by the Federal Highway Administration, it's evident that strategically placed traffic signals improve safety and efficiency by controlling vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A redlight at the Lowes exit would directly address the traffic issue, reducing the rate of accidents that have plagued our community.
Furthermore, the closure of the Sonic exit on Cherokee Avenue offers an added layer of safety, as it has long been a high-risk zone responsible for many accidents. This exit is evidently more hazardous than beneficial, which warrants its closure.
By implementing these changes, we can reduce risk and protect those using these roads daily. We call on our local authorities to take action immediately and prioritize the safety of our community, by installing a redlight at the Lowes exit and closing off the Sonic exit on Cherokee Avenue. Please, sign this petition to advocate for a safer neighborhood for all of us.
