Improve Traffic Safety at Bear Valley Rd & Mesa View Dr (Victorville, CA)

Improve Traffic Safety at Bear Valley Rd & Mesa View Dr (Victorville, CA)
The Issue
We, the undersigned, call on the City of Victorville to take immediate action to improve traffic safety at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Mesa View Drive.
This intersection has become increasingly dangerous due to:
- Excessive speeding (60+ mph)
- High traffic volume
- Inadequate intersection control
- Ongoing serious collisions, including fatalities
🚸 Most urgently, school children are placed at daily risk, as a school bus pickup zone is located just 150 feet from the intersection—directly adjacent to recent crash sites, including fatal incidents.
📍 Recent Incidents Include:
- 09/29/25: Motorcyclist killed in a collision with a car turning onto Mesa View Dr.
- 04/19/25: Pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run on Bear Valley Rd.
- 08/01/24: Three-car crash sent multiple people, including a deputy, to the hospital.
- 12/10/23 & 12/04/20: Vehicles crashed into a nearby property wall—causing property damage and threatening electrical safety.
These are not isolated incidents—they are part of a clear and ongoing pattern of hazardous conditions that demand city action.
🚨 Our Petition Demands:
- Lower the posted speed limit near Bear Valley Rd & Mesa View Dr to reflect residential and pedestrian activity.
- Install a traffic signal at the intersection to regulate flow and protect lives.
- Conduct a formal traffic, speed, and collision study to assess risks and recommend changes.
- Investigate and address property damage caused by repeated vehicle crashes into adjacent homes and city-owned structures.
How many more lives must be lost before action is taken?
We urge Victorville city officials, including the Traffic Engineering Division, Public Works, and the City Manager’s Office, to prioritize the safety of residents—especially children—and take immediate steps to make this intersection safer for all.
Rest in peace to Fidelmar Duran Perez, whom along with many others, have inspired this petition.
Please sign and share this petition to help prevent future tragedies.
