Improve the Rooksdown skate park by adding a flat area suitable for young/novice skaters.
The Issue
As a resident of Rooksdown (Basingstoke) and a keen roller skating enthusiast, I am writing to say what an amazing attraction the Skate Park is. It is used continually by many adults, teenagers and children and is a great way to encourage youngsters to increase fitness and indulge in a healthy outdoor activity.
In order to attract newcomers - both young and old - to use the facility, I would like the site to be improved further by adding a flat area for novices and beginners. The existing park, while great for confident skaters, can be somewhat daunting for cautious and unsteady beginners, who are just learning the necessary skills to move safely around more advanced skaters. It would also be the perfect place to practise stationary tricks without taking up the flat areas between the existing ramps.
I feel that this would be a relatively simple project to implement, that would benefit a large proportion of our growing community.
