Improve the Quality of Lunches at F.A. Day Middle School

The Issue

UPDATE: Some teachers are saying this won't change anything, I'm just asking for healthy options, it would be so much better if we had a turkey sammy or something, yesterday I found green French Fries and told Mr. Healy, he said that the potatoes weren't fully ripe, we both knew that was not true.

As a student at F.A. Day Middle School in Newton, MA, there are days when I find myself unable to eat because the quality of our school lunches is simply not up to par. This situation is far from unique; many students share my experience and struggle with the same issue on a daily basis.

The importance of nutritious and appealing meals in schools cannot be overstated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), students who eat full, healthy meals have better grades, better school attendance, and improved cognitive performance over those who do not.

Unfortunately, our current lunch program does not meet these standards. The food often lacks variety and flavor which discourages many students from eating their meals. This can lead to decreased concentration in class due to hunger or lack of proper nutrients.

We believe that every student deserves access to high-quality meals that will fuel their learning throughout the day. We urge F.A Day Middle School administration and Newton Public Schools District officials to take immediate action towards improving our school lunch program.

Please sign this petition if you believe in better lunches for all students at F.A Day Middle School!
