Growing up in Montrose, Colorado, I found my passion in skateboarding. It wasn't just a hobby; it was a way of life that instilled confidence, camaraderie, and joy. Our local skatepark has been a gathering place for the youth and a cradle for budding talent. However, the current state of the Montrose skatepark is far from perfect. The facilities are aging and, quite frankly, have become a safety hazard. The worn-out ramps and dilapidated equipment not only limit the potential for new skateboarders but also discourage experienced skaters from honing their skills. This decline in infrastructure undermines the vibrant skateboarding culture that Montrose is known for.

Improving our skatepark could significantly impact our community. By upgrading the equipment and expanding the facilities, we can create a safe, accessible environment that encourages more youth participation. Funding for these improvements could be achieved through local government initiatives, seeking grants specifically for recreational projects, or partnering with businesses that align with our goals.
