Improve the Allianz Arena Grass Quality and Camera Angles

Improve the Allianz Arena Grass Quality and Camera Angles
The Issue
To: FC Bayern Munich Management and Allianz Arena Board
We, the undersigned fans of FC Bayern Munich, are deeply concerned about the current state of the pitch and camera angles at the Allianz Arena. As loyal supporters, we are proud of our club’s accomplishments and global reputation. However, recent matches have highlighted two glaring issues that affect both player performance and the viewing experience for fans in the stadium and those watching on television.
1. Grass Quality :
The quality of the grass at Allianz Arena has been subpar, making the pitch resemble a farm rather than a top-tier football field. Players are struggling to maintain control, and the pitch conditions are having a noticeable impact on gameplay, especially during attacks. In recent high-stakes moments, the poor quality of the pitch has cost us dearly. To mention one instance, in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final on April 19, 2023 against Manchester City, we witnessed three key moments where the grass directly hindered our players:
- Upamecano's slip against Erling Haaland, which led to a crucial goal.
- Sané and Musiala both losing control of the ball inside the box in vital moments. These were chances that could have altered the outcome of the match.
In a competition defined by fine margins, such pitch conditions are simply unacceptable. The grass is directly influencing the destiny of the club, impacting players’ performance and, in turn, the decisions that affect our coaches and the future of the team. It is embarrassing that newly promoted teams like Holstein Kiel have better quality grass than one of Europe’s most prestigious clubs. While we understand that upcoming NFL games may be influencing the choice of grass, the priority must always be FC Bayern and our football performances. Our players deserve the best surface to perform on, not one that hinders their skills
2. Camera Angles :
The camera angles, particularly on free-kicks and plays near the sideline, make it difficult to see the action clearly. This diminishes the viewing experience for fans, both in the stadium and on television. The poor angles, combined with the rough-looking pitch, make our world-class stadium appear amateurish on screen, tarnishing the image of the club. It's frustrating when crucial plays, especially involving our wingers driving the ball down the wing, are nearly impossible to follow due to the camera setup.
As devoted supporters, we respectfully urge the management to:
- Invest in better-quality grass to ensure the players can perform at their best and avoid unnecessary injuries and game-altering slips.
- Improve the camera angles, especially during critical moments like free-kicks and wing play to enhance the viewing experience for all fans.
We believe these changes are essential for maintaining the club’s reputation and ensuring the best experience for both players and supporters.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned Fans
