Improve the Accountability and Fairness of Staff in Orangeburg County School District

The Issue

The Orangeburg County School District, SC, currently employs individuals who, through numerous accounts, have been reported to be inconsistent in their attention to essential matters of student safety and well-being. Students who are victims of bullying are often ignored or overlooked. This lackadaisical approach hurts our students, creating a psychological ripple effect that undermines their educational development. Studies show that students who are bullied tend to experience lower academic achievement and aspirations, higher truancy rates, and may suffer from anxiety and depression (American Psychological Association). Furthermore, the district allegedly practices nepotism, selectively disciplining certain students over others. This behavior breaches the core principles of fairness and equity that education systems should uphold. We are asking the relevant authorities to take immediate action: to replace existing staff and administrators who fail to address these crucial issues with committed, impartial, and caring individuals. In doing so, we can build a school environment where every child feels valued, safe, and free from prejudice. Please, lend your voice to this plea; help us bring about necessary change in our schools by signing this petition.
