Improve Student Welfare: Remove Inadequate Dean Lindsey Castro from Chamberlain - Houston

The Issue

Petition to Remove Dean Lindsey Castro from Her Position at Chamberlain College of Nursing - Houston

We, the undersigned students of Chamberlain College of Nursing - Houston, are calling for the immediate removal of Dean Lindsey Castro from her position due to her failure to fulfill the responsibilities and duties expected of her role.

The Dean's primary role is to support the student body, address concerns, and foster an environment conducive to academic success. Unfortunately, Dean Castro has consistently failed to uphold these standards in the following ways:

1. Lack of Student Engagement and Support: Dean Castro has repeatedly failed to allow students the opportunity to voice their concerns or provide input on matters that directly affect their education and well-being. A Dean should be approachable and supportive, yet many students feel uncomfortable and hesitant to seek help or assistance from her, which has been detrimental to our success and motivation.

2. Failure to Address Student-Professor Disputes: One of the key responsibilities of a Dean is to mediate and resolve conflicts between students and faculty. Dean Castro has not only neglected this duty but has also failed to emphasize the importance of addressing such disputes, leading to unresolved issues that negatively impact the learning environment.

3. Restrictions on Using External Resources: Dean Castro has discouraged students from utilizing external resources, which are essential for many of us to excel in our studies. The content taught in class often does not align with the exams, making these resources crucial for our success. Her restrictive policies are harming students' ability to perform to the best of their abilities.

4. Increase in Faculty Mistakes, Unfair Grading, and Student Dismissals: There has been a noticeable increase in errors made by faculty members and instances of unfair grading. These issues have not been adequately addressed by Dean Castro, leading to an alarming rise in student dismissals. Consequently, there has been a significant increase in appeals for academic suspension, as students struggle to defend themselves against unjust evaluations. Her inaction is not only damaging students' academic careers but also threatens the reputation of Chamberlain College of Nursing.

5. Risk to Institutional Reputation: The failure to address these critical issues could potentially lead to legal action against the institution. Moreover, if Dean Castro continues in her current position, the enrollment at Chamberlain College of Nursing - Houston is likely to decline, as prospective students will seek educational institutions that prioritize their success and well-being.

For these reasons, we urge the administration to remove Dean Lindsey Castro from her position and to appoint a Dean who will genuinely support the student body, address our concerns, and ensure that our educational experience is both fair and successful.
