Improve Student Success: Later Start Times & Shorter Days for GISD/WorldWide Schools

The Issue

On average, it's recommended for a teenager to have at MINIMUM 6-8 Hours and 8-10 Hours for a good well rest.

While we are young, we need to sleep well, it helps with our muscle growth, growth spurts, puberty, and more. We also need sleep to be more productive at school. This is something the school system needs to realize for them to have successful students, which they currently lack due to their own old failing system.

The GISD district continues to hide their rates from showing parents that the "average" grade that kids have in school are a "B", but further looking into it (Source: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/texas/districts/garland-independent-school-district/sachse-high-school-19121 A long with other districts). Their SAT scores are lacking at an average of 970. Not even good enough to apply to an ok university/college. And from the same source. The grade averages in schools are below 50%. What a GREAT system.

In the article, "Why are shorter class periods better? Why should school days not be longer? Why should the school day be shorter?". It explains and shows proof of how kids with 8 hours of sleep and a good amount of time to process things they learn having time to have fun have WAY more of success than an average kid that has to wake up early with 6 hours of sleep, stay in class for 8 hours, and come back and spend that extra time they have on homework. Then they go to sleep late due to constant hardship in homework, And the loop continues. Do you see the problem now? It's not even because they spend time on their "phones" or whatever, from personal experience. I barely got to do anything I wanted to do or even have a healthy life when I was a teen because of the constant homework and school work we have. And remember, this is the same system that tries to promote "healthy students".

If the schools were really so "concerned" about their students health rather then seeing the grade and SAT average go up. Then they would focus on kids having a good sleep schedule by making school shorter and starting school later, focus on giving them non-raw and safe food (yes I'm being serious). Focus on kids who get bullied and don't have comfortable support to ask for (counselors really don't do anything). Make the classrooms MORE COMFORTABLE to learn in instead of wasting the money they earn on school events. And in general not trying to not only make it strict (which is somewhat reasonable), but to also make it more COMFORTABLE to learn in because apparently that building will "determine your future"(bs).

GISD, don't say "#GISDEFFECT" while not changing anything, only just making it more stricter. Focusing on your students instead of seeing the money and grades rise.

But with these words, I'm 100% not saying school isn't valuable for our society. I mean, look at other school districts that have a short time, they are striving! Even in the USA. They just need to change a lot of things in the school. And don't say "it's too much work". Schools are suppose to shape the future of this nation and the world, so I should see some damn hard work and good work from every teacher, principal, head office, CEO, and more.

This is urgent for our new generation to shine over our old generation to make a better world, which first starts with changing some corrupt old system.
