Every day, countless residents of Coteau walk or ride bikes early in the morning along Highway 88, Captain Cade Road and Romero Road. Due to inadequate street lighting on these roads, drivers often can't see pedestrians until it's too late. This situation is not just inconvenient - it's a matter of life and death.

In the United States alone, approximately 6,000 pedestrians are killed every year due to traffic-related incidents (source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). A significant number of these accidents occur during low-light conditions where poor visibility is a major factor. We believe that improving the street lighting on these particular roads in Coteau could significantly reduce this risk for our community members.
