The Issue

In Bryson City, North Carolina, the students of Swain County schools are facing an issue with the quality of their school meals. Like many , I find like myself often working hard throughout the school day only to be met by food that is neither appetizing or nutritious.

This is not just about personal inconveniences; this can be a problem affecting the well-being and success of countless students. Good nutrition is essential for cognitive overall school performance. our school cafeterias have been serving food that is not as nutritional as we think. sometimes even the milk provided to us is expired, which poses a serious health risk.

Studies show that students who receive healthy, sufficient meals are more likely to excel academically and have fewer behavioral issues. Ensuring that all school-provided food is nutritious, appetizing, and comes in proper portions is vital for us to grow, learn, and succeed.

The solution is simple and abtanable: Swain County Schools should collaborate with local food suppliers to ensure fresh, high-quality ingredients are used and available each day. The food should meet nutritional standards and be served in good portion sizes.

Additionally, our schools should engage with parents and students to gather feedback on meal satisfaction and to regularly update the menu according to these insights. This approach not only supports health but also encourages active participation from the entire community, supporting there environment in which students can thrive.

Let's demand action now so every student in Swain County, from elementary through high school, has access to the nourishing food they deserve. Sign this petition to call on the school administration and county officials to prioritize our health and education by improving the quality and quantity of school meals and ensuring fresh milk is always served.
