Petition for Improved Safety at Harmony Rd & Main St

Drivers are routinely speeding through the four-way stop at the intersection of Harmony Road and Main Street. Whether motorists are failing to notice that this is a four-way stop or are simply choosing to ignore it, the result is the same: a dangerous intersection that puts lives at risk every day.

In addition to speeding, many drivers do not wait their proper turn to proceed. This disregard for right-of-way has already caused multiple accidents and countless near-misses. Residents, pedestrians, and drivers who follow the rules are left to guess whether the next vehicle will actually stop—or blow straight through.

What is especially troubling is that despite numerous reported accidents and ongoing safety concerns, no meaningful action has been taken to address the problem. Doing nothing while incidents continue is unacceptable.

We are calling for an immediate traffic study at this intersection and for the city to seriously consider safety solutions, including speed bumps to slow drivers and draw attention to the stop, and/or the installation of a proper traffic light to control traffic flow.

Even if you personally have never had an issue at this intersection, we urge you to sign this petition. Just because nothing has happened to you yet does not mean it won’t. Safety improvements shouldn’t come only after a tragedy.

Imagine your loved ones—especially your children—crossing or traveling through this intersection. They deserve protection from a roadway that has become increasingly dangerous due to negligence and inaction.
