The intersection of 150th St and Virginia Ave in the morning and afternoon for Prior Lake High School drop off and pick up is a constant worry. Today, the morning of February 24th, I witnessed another serious accident with multiple cars damaged and being towed, as well as potential injuries to drivers. I've lived in my home for 13 years and have came to aid numerous car accidents. My worst fear is hearing or witnessing an accident, leaving my home, and seeing a student seriously injured or worse, dead. 

Living in the adjacent neighborhood of the high school and intersection and knowing many of the residents, the situation is not unique to me alone. It affects us all - parents, students, pedestrians, and motorists alike, who navigate this intersection daily. Safety concerns at this intersection have escalated to a hazard, calling for immediate action.

According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, nearly 40% of all U.S. crashes occur at intersections, primarily caused by a lack of sufficient safety measures (NHTSA). Our intersection falls into this risk bracket. It's alarming considering the increased traffic of parents and students associated with the high school over the past several years.
