Request for a Traffic Safety Review
We, the undersigned residents, are concerned about the safety of the intersection used to access Sutton Drive from Empire, Russet and Elmside crescents.

At present, parked vehicles can significantly obstruct visibility for drivers entering the intersection, while vehicles travelling along Sutton Drive are often moving at speeds that make it difficult to safely judge gaps in traffic. This combination creates a potentially dangerous situation for residents, pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users.

We are asking the City to review the intersection and determine appropriate measures to improve visibility and traffic safety.

Possible solutions could include:

Reviewing parking restrictions or other measures to improve sightlines.
Assessing whether additional signage, traffic-calming measures, or a stop sign would be appropriate.
Conducting a traffic-speed and safety assessment at the intersection.
Reviewing collision/near-miss history and resident concerns.
Consulting with local residents and communicating the City's recommended next steps.
With the upcoming municipal councillor election, we also believe this is an appropriate time to raise the issue with the candidates and seek their commitment to addressing neighbourhood traffic safety.

We respectfully ask the City and local councillor candidates to listen to residents, assess the situation, and work with the community toward a practical solution.
