Improve Safety and Abuse Awareness in Foster Care

Improve Safety and Abuse Awareness in Foster Care
The Issue
My daughter was tragically placed into licensed foster care following a wrongful accusation of domestic violence after a kidnapping by a cab driver, an ordeal that began in 2023 and continues to this day, extending into 2025. Despite this egregious situation, there has been no investigation into her welfare, nor has there been any welfare checks conducted. Allegations of neglect and abuse have been left unaddressed, and disturbingly, graphic images and video recordings exist that document my conversations with my daughter, highlighting her distress. Yet, nothing has been done, and my daughter has been instructed to remain silent.
This appalling neglect and abuse in the foster care system are not isolated incidents. Across the United States, countless children in foster care suffer without a voice, without anyone to advocate for their safety. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, over 400,000 children are currently in foster care, many of whom face similar situations where accusations of abuse and neglect go unnoticed or unresolved.
To address these grave issues, we urge child welfare agencies to implement mandatory and regular welfare checks for children placed in foster care. Utilize technology by installing secure, monitored surveillance in foster homes to ensure the safety and well-being of each child. Additionally, an independent body must be established to thoroughly investigate all claims of abuse and neglect without bias or delay.
Children deserve to feel safe and protected, especially those who have already faced adversities in life. It is imperative that we hold the foster care system accountable for the care and safety of every child it shelters. We must act now to prevent further neglect and abuse and ensure no child suffers in silence.
Sign this petition to demand reform in foster care safety measures and to protect vulnerable children from abuse and neglect. Together, we can make a difference and provide a brighter, safer future for our children.
