Improve road safety in Fort Bragg

Improve road safety in Fort Bragg
The Issue
I have lived in Fort Bragg my entire life, and in that time, I have witnessed an alarming number of road accidents right in front of my house. These accidents aren't isolated events; they reflect a broader crisis in our community's road safety. Speeding has become rampant, primarily due to a lack of police enforcement. Moreover, there is a severe lack of speed signs and pedestrian crosswalks. For those of us who walk/run/bike around town, especially with young children, these lapses in road safety can be life-threatening.
Every day, I walk through town with toddlers, and I've had numerous encounters where it felt like tragedy was just a heartbeat away. I no longer feel safe, and I worry for the children of our community. The tourists passing through our town add to the chaos, making it even more crucial that we address these safety issues promptly.
The community is upset, and change is overdue. We need more investment in our town—strategic placement of slow streets flexible delineators, speed cushions to reduce vehicle speeds, traffic circles to slow vehicle speeds at an intersection, and more law enforcement to deter speeding in residential areas. These measures will not only protect locals but also ensure that Fort Bragg remains a welcoming and safe place for tourists to visit. Let's show that we value the lives and safety of everyone who walks and drives through our streets.
I urge our city officials to listen to the concerns of the community and take immediate action to ensure that Fort Bragg is a safer place for all its residents and visitors. Please join me in advocating for these necessary improvements. Sign this petition and help propel our call for change. Together, we can make Fort Bragg a safer and more secure place to live.
