I am deeply concerned for the safety of my children and others at Ralph Butterfield School. Every day, as we approach the school gates, what should be a safe zone turns into a hazard zone. There is no designated safe crossing area, leaving our children vulnerable amidst the traffic chaos. I've personally witnessed cars mounting the pavement, barely missing pedestrians, and drivers engaging in aggressive road rage.

The absence of a safe crossing not only endangers the lives of the students but also causes significant stress to parents, guardians, and school staff. We need immediate action to ensure that our children can arrive and leave school safely.

A stark statistic highlights the gravity of the situation—nearly 30% of child pedestrian casualties occur during school drop-off and pick-up times. With Ralph Butterfield School lacking proper crossing facilities, our community's children and residents are at unnecessary risk.

To address this urgent issue, we propose the installation of a well-marked pedestrian crossing with adequate signage and possibly traffic calming measures near the school entrance. This would not only enhance safety but also bring peace of mind to all members of our community.
