Improve Queensland State School Reporting System for Comprehensive Student Assessments

Improve Queensland State School Reporting System for Comprehensive Student Assessments
The issue
As a parent to a child in Queensland state schooling, I have witnessed first-hand the shortcomings of the current school reporting system. It has become increasingly clear that our present method of student assessment is inadequate, providing little valuable insights to parents, teachers, or medical professionals. Real-world issues, such as learning difficulties and behavioral concerns, can slip through the cracks due to lack of in-depth reporting and relevant data in the students' report cards.
The urgency to reform the Queensland state school reporting system cannot be overstated. As a case in point, my daughter, despite struggling at school, was not identified by the system that's supposedly designed to support students in her situation. In its current form, the reports do not provide comprehensive evaluation of our children’s academic and developmental capacities. With inadequate information, it's impossible to duly alert medical professionals to potential underlying issues; thereby restraining us from being able to acquire necessary support for our children.
Moreover, as parents we are left in the dark about the individual achievements of our children and what areas they need help with. A child's education is a crucial part of their development into well-rounded individuals, and this lack of information restricts us from being actively involved in their progress.
Consequently, we ask for your support in calling upon the Queensland Department of Education to reform the State School Reporting system, making it more comprehensive and beneficial for students, parents, and educationalists alike. It's about time we ensure that every child's needs are met, and their progress adequately tracked, for a better educational future.
Please, sign this petition and back our fight to improve the Queensland State School reporting system.
