The Issue

I need your support as a fellow citizen and a regular user of our city's public transportation. The city's current bus stops and sidewalk infrastructure inadequately serve those who depend on these services. Often, bus stops are precariously located on sloping grassy terrain without any benches. This makes it tremendously challenging for those who may require a place to sit or people who struggle with stability.

The sidewalk situation is similarly discouraging. With sidewalks only present in areas of high concentration, it has become an ordeal for pedestrians who use walking as their primary mode of transportation. Walking on the side of the road constantly poses serious safety issues.

As UN's "Global Goals for Sustainable Development" emphasize, provision of affordable and inclusive transport systems for all by 2030 is crucial. It also calls for special attention to the needs of vulnerable sections including the elderly, disabled, and those with lesser healthcare access (Goal 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities). I believe our city should align itself to these globally recognized objectives.

I believe it's time to provide all members of our community - irrespective of their physical abilities or economic status - with accessible and safe options for transportation. As we strive for a stronger, safer, and more inclusive community, let's urge our local authorities to prioritize the improvement of public transportation infrastructure.

Please join me in this cause. Sign the petition to demand more bus stops and fully accessible sidewalks across our city.
